TV592 "Bass" Kubyz
Archived model (?)
|
Jews harp with a (relatively) long, soft tongue and small gaps, providing the widest possible range of reproducible frequencies and high sensitivity. The timbre of this bass instrument is dense, rich and colorful. The extra sound at the moment of stroke is weak. Like any low frequency harp, the TV592 bass responds particularly well to breathing.
Kubyz has a rare technical drawback - with time, depending on the intensity of use, the gaps slightly increase and the high components of the timbre fades away, the piercing and loudness decreasing too. The average full life of the instrument is about a year, after which the deck can be pushed back (not hard to do, but lot of accuracy is required).
